This complex project aims to reconnect the city of Libreville to its 7 km long waterfront by reinterpreting the iconic local rain forest. Just like mangrove roots, the paths and the green inlays cross each other generating a heterogeneous public realm, opened to planned and spontaneous interactions.
Bord de Mer is going to be enhanced by a series of new recreational activities and playgrounds, while gaining more protection from coastal erosion.
The redesigned street section will not be anymore a cutting element: car traffic will be slowed down, while pedestrians and cyclists are going to become a stronger presence, finally avoiding the existing ‘motorway feeling’.
